Master competitive strokes and improve endurance with expert guidance.

Learn to Swim – Stage 7

Suitability:
– Can swim 100m and demonstrate 3 different strokes

Stage 7 focuses on developing quality stroke technique and increasing swimming endurance. Swimmers practise all four strokes with improved efficiency and begin swimming longer distances with consistent technique.

By the end of this stage, swimmers should be able to swim 100 metres continuously, demonstrate good stroke technique and show strong water confidence.

Successful completion results in the Swim England Learn to Swim Stage 7 Award.

Learn to Swim – Stage 8

Suitability:
– Able to swim 200m and demonstrate 3 different strokes

Stage 8 is aimed at swimmers who want to further develop stamina and technical ability, often as preparation for club or competitive swimming.

Swimmers work towards completing structured training sets totalling 400 metres, refining stroke technique and learning how to perform turns for each stroke. Diving starts and underwater streamline kicking may also be introduced depending on pool facilities.

Completion leads to the Swim England Learn to Swim Stage 8 Award.

Learn to Swim – Stage 9/10

Suitability:
– Able to swim 400m

In Stage 9, swimmers continue to build endurance, technique and race skills. Training sets increase to 800 metres, and swimmers practise individual medley swimming along with more advanced starts, underwater kicking and turns.

Learn to Swim – Stage 10

Stage 10 is the final level of the programme and focuses on advanced swimming performance. Swimmers complete longer training sets of up to 1600 metres, refine stroke technique across all four strokes and practise racing skills such as relay takeovers, starts and turns.

Completion of this stage demonstrates a high level of swimming ability and readiness for competitive or club-level swimming.
